Inspired by the ancient scroll paintings of China, each vertical sculpture is entirely unique, taking about 60 hours of meticulous work to design and execute.
The Nishikigoi is revered as a symbol of harmony, peace, and prosperity. Koi are living jewels, in recent decades mesmerizing millions with their colorful water ballets in formal pools and quiet ponds around the world. They are simple, beautiful, friendly, harmless fish silently speaking a message of joy and peaceable community to a world that seems hell-bent on tearing itself apart.
My sculptures are hand carved of figured domestic and rare exotic hardwoods. Each piece is numbered, signed, and dated, and is unique.
